Default 35% Tint - Is It Worth It?

I am stationed in Idaho right now and 35% is the darkest I can go on the driver and passenger windows on my WS6. My back hatch is like 10 or 15% (legal in Cali when I did it), so is $80 for both driver and passenger windows worth it? My car is black so I don't know if that will help or not with making it look better. Should I do it or is it not worth it since it is only going to be 35%? And no I will not go darker, I am in the military and cannot afford to get ANY tickets. Thanks!

If the back hatch is already tinted then yea it will make a difference. Also if you have t top shades it makes the car darker inside and will make your tint look darker than it is.

Man I'm pretty sure 35% is dark as hell. So....it should look absolutely sick on a black car haha! Definitely make sure its legal - www.tintlaws.com - and carry proof of the percentage of light transmission. You'll want this WHEN, not IF, that ******* cop pulls you over.

Oh, I looked it up for you. 35% IS legal on your car. You could also up the back hatch to 35% if you have the cash.

im assuming you've never dealt with window tint before.... 35 is not exactly "dark as hell", its generally the second from the lightest shade you can go, second to 50% (thats the lowest i've heard of anyone getting)

after this one im sure that you've never dealt with tint. the lower the percent the darker the tint. so going from the 10-15% he already has to 35% would make it lighter, not darker. the percent number is the amount of light that is able to pass, the lower percentage, the less amount of light able to pass through.

- on my camaro (black) i have 5% on the hatch, t-tops painted black, and my front windows have 35%. it is definitely worth it as opposed to not having it done at all, and you shouldnt get as much (if any) attention from the boys. its pretty dark inside, no where near as dark as my Trans Am (with the same setup, except 15 on the sides), but it's still nice.

i got pulled over/warned about 7 times with the camaro when i used to have the 15 on the sides. i got by with it for about 2 years then i finally got a ticket for it. it was like $250 for the ticket, or remove the tint and pay nothing. so i got rid of it. after driving around for a few weeks without it, i HAD to get them retinted, but i decided to go with the 35% instead, to help keep me out of trouble. let me see if i have a couple good pics to show how the tint looks.

I have 5% all around on mine. I don't get hassled down here, but they don't care about much here. 35% isn't really all that dark, but it is worth it just because it will protect your interior from sun damage. And it will keep it a bit cooler during the summer.

I've got picks in my photo album too. 20 on the sides and back. 28 on the front, and shades in.

35% :

20% :

5% :

It tends to depend on how it is outside too.. If you look at the picture of my T/A above, it has 20% and doesn't look very dark. Now, look at it here. Same car, 20% :

So, I think 35% is probably worth it, it's better than nothing. Go to a tint shop and ask for a sample or if they have a car that they just did.

35% tint is better than no tint at all, without question.

I run 20% on the front windows and 5% on the hatch, and I'd like it better if the front was 15%. I just can't believe that I went for years without tint...I will never own another vehicle without some type of tint.

I have been pulled over for anything under 50% on the side windows here in CA. After a couple of tickets I decided to go from 35% to 50%.
I recently got my sides done at 50% and the rear window has been at 5% for about four years, plus I have t-top shades, and they look fine! People seem to think the tint is darker than it is and question me when I tell them it is 50% on the sides...

35% tint on my Z28

Not sure of the tint on my Cadillac, pretty sure its 35% as well, its not very dark. It seems to have more of a reflective quality about it though.

i have 12% all around on both my firebirds. it looks so good but i got pulled over 3 times this month for the tint on my dd firebird.. got a ticket the first time and warning the last 2. so i didnt really have a choice but to take it off the driver and passenger windows. it sucks but the hatch is still 12%. you couldnt see in my car when they were all tinted, i miss it but ill probably do 35% and see how long i last with that. so yeah get rear hatch tinted dark dark and the windows like 35%, itll look really good.

This was in direct sunlight.
