something i thougth about recently..

i have adapters.. for chevy to ford. i tried them once on the back wheel of a 97 camaro..it was a 94-04 mustang Bullitt 18x10 or 18x9 rim.. it stuck out too far.. but the 05+ mustang rims have a different offset and will stick in more.. so the 05+ rims might fit flush with the fender on a camaro..

So many people with f-bodies have them for a reason. They look good on these cars.

Wheels are wheels, as long as they look good and you like it screw everyone elses opinion including mine. That being said I wouldn't run adapters unless you absolutly have too, they can be quite dangerous with the added stress on lug studs.

I did the math one time but basically if you can find 05+ mustang offsets (54mm for a 17x10.5 DD Cobra R) and the thinnest adapter on the market (20mm) that would be like running a wheel with a 34mm offset. Theres pics floating around of a camaro running 36mm offset ZR1s and they stick out past the fender just a bit - like 1/8 or 3/16 each side. I would assume they would be flush w the wider TA fenders...

I honest think the fr500 rims would look pretty nice on a z,ss, its just an idea ,ideas and how something looks are 2 worlds apart,my brother has a stang with 17x11 fr500 in black maybe when he comes up here ill pop one off and place it next to the ss,just to put my (that will look sweet idea) to rest

ok. the 05+ mustang rims fit and dont stick out too far like the 94-04 mustang rims. so dont use 94-04 stang rims cuz the offset makes them stick out too far. u actually might want to use a spacer or thicker adapter so it'll stick out more... but it does stick out about as far as the stock camaro rims. i only did it on the rear wheel. but i'm guessing the front should be the same.. the front/back sticks out the same distance right?

heres pics..

of course u can just buy maybe 18x9 05 fr500s and they should stick out the same way as these.

05 bullit rims 17x8s:

heres why 94-04 rims wont work. 99-04 18x9 fr500s.

so conclusion is.. if someone owned a 05+ mustang ad a 93-02 camaro/firebird.. they could buy fr500s and swap rims anytime.

but for someone like me..i only have 94-04 mustangs... so buying a set of 05 rims would only be usable on one car.. they'd be strictly for my camaro.. not my 94-04 stangs cuz they stick in too far.. but i could buy spacers to make them stick out but thats a waste of time. but if i did like fr500s better than all the camaro rims available then i could buy them.. but i like alot of the camaro rims. i only thought of this in the beginning cuz i wanted to swap rims back and forth.. but its dumb to do since they only fit right on the camaros/firebirds.

on the other hand though. i wonder if it'd be the same deal with putting corvette/camaro/fbody rims on a mustang? theres some nice fbody rims that would probably look nice on a mustang..

since those bullitt rims stick in quite a bit.. i think 05+ 18x10 fr500s should fit perfect.

not sure what size the spacer is i used..figured someone can tell by the picture i took of it.

someone on here probably has a friend with a 05 mustang with fr500s 10" rims..they should ask to test fit them if they have some ford-to-chevy adapters. i know they sell them on ebay. there was a set on craigslist recently for 50 for all 4. mine were given to me..they're like 30 years old.

Looks like a regular 1" lug adapter. I dont have any mustang friends with FR500s, got some enemies but I doubt they would let me use their wheels for test fit lol

Um...no. The lower the offset, the more the wheel sticks out. Adding a spacer would then make the offset even less (wheel sticks out more)

Yeah I think 18 inch chrome fr500 rims would look sick on my white ss,not only I can make a ss center cap for them,so I should get rims for a 05 and up

There's a Trans Am locally that has the Shelby Razors or American Racing Razors wheels on it, which ever name they go by. I can only find them as, being for "mustangs". I thought they looked good on that Trans Am.

Im with 6LE, aslong as the wheels look good on the car. Who cars what car they came off of.
