Local Car washes = Big Problem
I am just about ready to start cleaning it myself. I know I am going to use Zaino for the wax, but what about the wash soap? What to use there? and to dry it?
I should be able to do an extremely better job and also save some money <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[chug]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_chug.gif" />
PLEASE tell me you don't run your car through an automatic car wash! <img border="0" alt="[whiner]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cry.gif" />
You should use nothing but white terry cloth towels to clean it. I have little hand mittens that are white terry cloth. Use a chamois, the absorber, or clean dry white terry cloth to dry it. Zaino of course is the way to go as far as waxing/polishing. I use the california blade just for the windows. Make sure you stay away from the "foam brush" at quarter car washes too!

See ya, hope this helps

let me tell you how close I am to sucking it up and risking the $500 fine (not literally) because my black t/a is looking sad (a few brief showers left tons of acid rain and dirt as proof, not to mention dust and whatever else from all the road construction around here)
we had a pretty decent storm last weekend but apparently this is the worst drought in years, they said its only this bad about once every 100 years, so i guess until conditions improve im pretty helpless, the car is beyond the help of detailing mist or a california duster yet I would rather drive around in a dirty as f*ck WS6 then take it to a car wash, and from what I hear, the DIY car washes recycle dirty water during times of water shortage. damn that.

I'm in the same boat. I'm stuck in the land of the over-taxed for poor sports franchises, and I found a way around it!
The water ban is VERY specific. Look closely at your state laws. I did, and it is surprising. We are currently in a stage 1 water emergency. That means there is no non-essential water use for ANY REASON between the hours of 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM. Yes, that means it is legal to get up at 6:52 AM, sunrise on Saturday, 8/31, and wash your car. You MUST be done before 8:00 AM. That gives you plenty of time to wash the exterior of your car.
