I installed my ebay precut tail light tint today. I bought the "dark" option. After I had them on I decided to cut out the reverse light section on them. They look pretty good! It's dark now but I'll take a picture tomorrow. Total install time was about 20 min. They were very easy to work with. You really can't go wrong for $20.

I just bought precut window tint tonight and I'm going to give that a whirl too. Haha

I've only shot with Tamiya, and never cleared it. 6LE is gong on YEARS strong with no clear, and i'm over a year.

I def. don't think you need to clear

Thanks for making this thread. Lots of good ideas, and I've been wondering how to do this.
The red on my tail lights ALL matched. The red or amber that was under isn't any darker. It's looks 100% stock.

Just the reverse section, and after buffing them out they really shine.

Ebay "dark" tail light film. Reverse lights trimmed off.

naa, you don't need to, its just a habit, especially since i always have it around. doesn't hurt though, just not necessary.

thats what i thought. the reason i asked, is because they slightly look like two different reds. if you do the entire light it'll blend perfectly all as one red.

It's what tends to happen when you take your CME off 5 or so times, lol. It was gonna get re-attached with new 3M, but since his newly designed bumper is coming in, he doesn't care too much.

I'm so glad I found this thread. I am going to be doing nightshade this weekend. I do have one question though, why wetsand with 600 grit instead of 1000? All the write ups I've read said to do 1k. Any specific reason?

^nope, no specific reason, just what i used. it really doesn't make a diifference, 600 is already very fine, but it'll give a better surface for the paint to grip to, yet you wont leave any noticeable scratches. 1000 is just going to be an even finer grain for a smoother surface, but will provide less for the paint to bite to, but it's enough to do the job.

I think I'll wetsand with 600 and do it then clear it with a couple coats and wetsand again to that smooth glassy look

Comes down to preference, one guy says 1000, the other says 600 . . . and me I went with 800 grit.
