ROB, does the aftermarket tach read a lot different then the factory one? Is scares me to think that I am shifting my car according to a crap tach. I usually shift by the speedo not my tach(as long as my tires aren't spinning )

I like seeing my rpms on the shifts and as I cross the traps, and being able to adjust my shiflight on the fly.

I don't think it is ricey but then again I did not do it as an appearance mod

Actually if you get a callibrated A/F gauge and use a different O2 sensor than the stock one, it will work good

I have a silver 5" monster tach w/light. IT IS NOT RICE . I have it so the shift light can go off in my face to tell me when to shift. I have it b/c the stock tach SUCKS ***. Its mounted on the far left side of my dash next to the a-pillar. BTW i bought it so i can impress people with it

Come on guys. if your car is upgraded with such things as a cam that provides a higher rev limit and you are in fact racing the car at the track, more power to you. I feel a monster tach is great, as long as there are upgrades to justify such a mod.......stickers don't count!!

Some folks actually need accurate instrumentation, some just think they look cool... To each his own.

well said G-man. if you need it, use it.

if you like it because its cool or think you need it with your stock *** motor.....do i need to say it? ric....nevermind. its just a glorified a/f at that point.

My only thing with a big *** tach is you are announcing to the world "I think I have a fast car, please race me". No thanks. I installed the Harlan light in the A-pillar and thats enough for me.

Since the dirt seemed to start to fly here, this post is over. I think enough in regards to the Monster Tach has been said.

In simple terms:

Monster Tach as an Appearance item - NO

Monster Tach for performance reasons - YES

I had one in my 67 Camaro..

Covering you car in stickers of product you dont even have on your car is RICE.. everything else is just a matter of taste..
