I did mine like this a few months ago, I'll try to snap a pic and post it here when I can. It's been holding up great and looks very nice. Definitely want to do the stainless inserts though!

Just for a comparison, here is the before:

These were taken with my Iphone, so not the best and the lighting sucks cause its dark here. I will try to get some better ones in the next few days when the sun is out and everything is shinning.

Looks awesome, sorry about having a front plate. That sucks. Hope NC doesn't get that idea.

Came out looking very vice. how did you go about reattaching it?

I really like it, but damn, that license plate really does kinda kill it. I'd risk the ticket. -but, i do love your plates!

Very nice work! I did the same to mine, but matched the NBM so it blends right in.

I just used a little hot glue on the studs in the back, that way I can take it off later with a little force if and when I ever get the car repainted. As for the plate, I'm Military and live in VA, so when I drive it and go on base, they check for that stuff. I also figured, if I have to have a plate, make it say something. When I had the temp paper plates, I didn't get much challenges on the highway, but as soon as I put the custom plates on, I had every rusttang to ricer trying to take me on, that or I was looking harder for a challenge, lol. I am thinking of removing the front plate now that I have a DD beater and just take the chance of smokey saying something.

If your not going to drive the Z28 everyday Craig, I say take off the front plate....however if your going to drive it everyday, I'd say leave it on!

I can understand wanting the plate on there. I have been pulled over twice for no front plate. Fortunately I can take off my grille and put the plate back on with the velcro I installed in about 10 seconds. That's what I did in front of the last motorcycle cop that got me. He just smiled and let me go

Clean it first. Try not to use anything with oils of solvent that will mess with the paint. Clean it up and dry it good. If there are holes or any major dings, you may want to fill them in. I used the plastic epoxy stuff from Wal-Mart. Let that dry, and then shave the excess with a razor and then sand it down to smooth out the fill and to match the grill surface. Clean again to remove excess dust or plastic from the fill process. Some that have painted it also primed it, so if you choose to prime it, add that in here. Let dry, then start with a light coat of paint. When started painting it, I had it hanging, but as I got more paint on, the 2nd and 3d coats started dripping and running down. So I would maybe prop it up on a surface or stand so the grill is facing up. I used my two jack stands to set it on. Another thing I did was put two holes in the center top and bottom connectors and then used a string to pull the center down so that the paint wouldn't run down the sides either. The causes the grill to lay flat instead of curving down. That way if you get a little too much paint in one area, you don't risk it running and bubbling from gravity. Now just take your time and apply the coats lightly to cover evenly and let them build up. I ended up using 2 cans of black gloss on this, but allot of the can was used up from off spray that didn't get on the grill. Let it dry good overnight, and if it's cold, then you may need to let it sit longer to dry. Once it dry to light touch, you can start with clear coat. Do light coats again, watch for running and then let it dry again. One thing I made a mistake with, was not letting it dry completely and cause it was cold here and got some finger prints on it when I was installing it back on the car. I was able to rub them out so they're not too noticeable, but they can still be seen up close. Now reinstall and your good to go. Be aware, you will have to deal with rock chips to it. Day one, and I had like 3 on mine. I may look for another type of clear coat that also hardens to help deter the rock chips.

Yep, and maybe I can talk you into letting me paint yours. I am thinking red to match the car and add the stripes on it as well like Ls1CamaroGuy87 did to his.
