315's in the back, step in here....
Whem you put 315's in the back of your car, did it slow your acceleration down noticeably? People are telling me it will slow down because of the larger rotating mass, which i could see. I am just curious if it that big of a issue. I am planning on going with 17x11 TT II's in the back, 17x9.5 up front. Thanks!

i would rather have the extra grip for acceleration and handling than have an extra 3rwhp...i couldnt tell a difference, except that the unintential burnouts stopped...lol seriously though, the benifits are way better than the con.

I have TT2's with 315's in back now.. Acceleration might be a slight bit less now, but at a weight difference of only 3lbs each wheel from the front it is not much, and the traction rocks..

That's why I did my heads/cam swap. Now a little more rotating mass doesn't make a bit of difference. More weight? Hell, just add more power.

The weight of rims and tires plays out to be more than reads on your bathroom scale. A couple of months back in the Drag Racing section there was talk of how rotating weight is brutal heavy. There was not a number nailed down for sure but it ended up being 3 or 4 times the static weight of the object. So if you added 6 pounds over two tires this could play out to 18-24 pounds.
Mark I kind of agree with you, but I would rather add the power and lose the weight too!

Re: 315's in the back, step in here....
I am thinking about changing out my current set-up: AFS chrome ZR1s 17x9.5 and 17x11 with 275/315 tires. The 315s don't help my traction. If I pull away nice and easy ride 1st to about 15-20 and stomp it the 315s break loose and smoke no harder then the 275s were to spin. I notice a huge difference in acceleration. The cars seems a lot slower with them on. My rear 17x11 w/315s weigh about 50lbs each if not a bit more, they are REALLY heavy but look so cool

They look so bad-*** that I really don't give a damn if they slow me down a little

if you get a light aftermarket wheel then the rotating mass won't be much more. i definitely didn't notice being slower after my 315s. pics in my sig...

What would be better for traction? I don't care about the rotating mass if it will hook better.
Nittos on my stock 17" WS6 rims.
OR
315 size regular radial tires on 18" rims.

well that really depends quickin. if you get the softest compund street tires...it may be better. like some eagle f1 supercar 315's...200 tw rating which is only 100 better than the nittos, but they WILL cost you.

I guess I'll have to try some 315 Drag Radial because my 315 BFG Comp T/A ZRs don't hold worth a ****. They have 85-90% tread on them. I don't do smokey brake torques, to expensive!
