i did the 8000k and decided they were a little too blue for me so i just bought some 6000k and i like them alot more.. they still look blueish when next to a halogen bulb.

6k will give you the best visibility. Signs will light up, reflectors, the road anything. I love my 6k. They look pretty

GO with 6k HID. Just got some on my Camaro & love them. They are more of a brighter white then blue (which I prefer) Heres some comparisons that helped me make up my mind.

hope this helps! & I would of just got black headlights instead of tinting them? But that's just me

I laughed when I read this thread and all I could think of was:

"What's the best rain repellant because I removed my windsheild wipers"

Nope. It's just that this made me scratch my head and ask, "what did you think was going to happen when you painted over your headlights".

Trust me, I think it looks cool, hell, that's one of the cool aspects of the firebirds. But I look at headlights as a safety item, and the last thing I would want to do is diminish their ability in the name of appearance.

Would you remove your brakes to make it look cooler?

already tried it. didn't look cool at all and driveability was ****.

haha jk. oh and to the person that said 6000k is brightest... no. as far as HID's go it's one of the "dimmest" COMMON colors used. Lower kelvins = brighter light.

You're preaching to deaf ears on the color of the lights. It's one thing I don't get with 90% of the people on this board, they want blue tinted headlights. If you're trying to make your car look expensive, Honda Ricer blue lights aren't going to do it. Show me a factory HID light in any car that has any blue in it and I'll call BS. Factory lights are 4300k, which is the brightest light, and doesn't cause glare like the rest of the lights do.

oh damn, i just caught the analogy. i get what you're saying now. when i read that i had just read that other thread a few minutes earlier so it seemed to fit perfectly.

but with the tinted headlight, while you do lose some visibility, you still have enough light to drive around at night just fine. its just not what you're used to having.

Sorry for this off-topic rant...
I had a similar quarrel with the bottom part of the lens when doing the whistler mod. I sanded down all the texture and used black vinyl... turned out nice. The shitty thing is that I had one all put back together before I realized how ugly the bottom was, so I took everything apart, added vinyl, and re-sealed it. What a PITA it was. Now I am wanting to replace my lenses because no matter how many times they get polished, sanded, etc. they just don't look as good as some new ones.

yeah i didnt even realize it till i was completely done with the first one, and was already almost done with the second one. i was being a lazy *** and really didnt feel like pulling it all apart again, so i did the second one correctly but then just vht'd them both.

i'm just gonna get another set of cheap halo lights, and pull them apart to whistler them. that way i get a brand new set of lenses, so they'll really look good.

you still at smc? havent seen the Z28 around this semester.

++ like a million. I'll never understand why people like the 6000k and higher bulbs. They look like crap and light like crap.... very dangerous!

I bought some 8500k back about 3 years ago from somebody on ebay...and they work great. I wouldn't go any higher, maybe lower, but they work 100X better than OEM headlights. I had them in my 2001 SS, then in a 2000 Jimmy and now I have them in my wife's 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee and they work SOOOO much better than her stock headlights. Maybe I got lucky, but mine work great and always have. I don't suggest going any higher, only because the light output isn't worth it. There's a ford fusion riding around here with PURPLE Hids in the headlights and fog lights...looks terrible. I'm buying another camaro in a week and i'll put my 8500k back in and might buy some 3500k or 5000k for the fogs. We'll see though.
