Default Oh No! Not Another Rear Seat Delete...

Well I did it... took me some time to do, but its done. Only my second time playing with fiberglass! I know some people think its stupid but this is not my DD and not a drag car so I could care less about weight or carrying people in the cramped *** back seat.

Let me know what you all think!

I'm still waiting on the subs in the mail.

Oh No! not another thread started with Oh No!!!! i think its time to retire it....

but, nice seat delete, very nicely done, and blends good. i've been kicking the idea around a bit. but every once in a while i have to fill up the car with people, so i just leave the seats folded down.

Looks good!

I use my back seats quite often, but if I were to consider a delete it'd be like this!

Like Ellsworth said, subs in a vert are basically pointless, upfiring in the back seat isn't going to help either. I worked at a custom stereo shop for a little over a year.. ask me how I know.

Looks pretty good, OP.

I'm going to delete my rear seats the first chance I get. I'm currently making new seat brackets to set my driver and passenger seat farther back and lower so my rear seat is pretty much non-op. I'm thinking about making a box but I would have the front of the box parallel with the back of the front seats. I would mount the subs on the front of the box.

Just a little input on that, in order to have enough room to put the subs directly behind the seats you would have the have the base (part where my subs are going) up to about right below the rear speaker in order to clear the hump for the bucket seat and still have enough room for the subs... thats what i wanted to do but it looked to high for my taste.

And to the sound critics... yeah its a vert... not going to get the same bass as in a hard top, I know this. Im not going for bass that will break a windshield, just for some crusing music. Ive had subs in a sealed box just laying in the rear seats before and it sounded just fine.

A guy did 4 AQ HDC3 12's in his rear seat facing forward and it looks real clean. It was in an LT1 firebird.

He also scored a 156, not what you're going for, but still.

Thanks for all the replys so far, I was hoping it turned out alright... was a little nerve shattering cutting the carpet out.

I just cleaned the carpet the other night, and now that it is dry I will post pics up in the 1st post when I get the interior back in.

The way I'm thinking about doing it is make two separate boxes connected my the face that the subs mount to and the top. That way I should be able to have the box as big or as small as I want and I'll be able to mount the subs just about as low as I want. I'm going with JL Audio so I'm thinking that I'm going to have to design a custom box based on the recommended box. I'll basically make it a three dimensional rhombus instead of a three dimensional rectangle.

This is kind of what I'm going for.
