Default Getting HIDs have a few questions

So I'm about to take the leap to HIDs with the DDM Tuning slim ballast kit with the lifetime warranty. I'm getting the 35 watt but I'm still deciding between 6k and 8k...I'm trying to get a bright white with a noticeable blue aura. But my main question is will I need any kind of wire harness or relay? I've heard lots of people say they hooked it up just how it is and have had no problems but I just want to make sure. I'm running an Optima red top battery if that makes a difference. Oh and to double check I will need a 9006 bulb for the low beams correct?

Do a SEARCH! There's been so many HID threads in this section in he last month its crazy. You don't necessarily "need" a relay harness for 35w (I didn't use one). You want bright white then get the 5000k. All the answers to your questions are in other threads!

search x2, but you'll get decent blue and plenty of brightness from 6000K. I've always thought of 6000K as a good compromise between color and brightness...8000K is too dim IMO.

go with the 6000k, the kit should have everything you need.

the DDM kit comes with everything you need. installing a hid kit is as simple as putting in a new bulb, and plugging the old headlight harness into the ballast

you need to plug the harness into the ballast backwards fyi

high beams leave stock. HID's take a long time to warm up and would be pointless as high beams.

I don't remember what lt1 cars use for fogs..

If you're going 55w on either the headlights OR foglights you will definitely want an upgraded wiring harness (one for each set of lights.)

for the fogs you want to go witha 35 watt or i've read u run the risk of the assembly getting to hot and damaging it. i just put the 880 6000k kit fro ddm in last night and the look just as good as my low beam kit. low beams i went with a full plug and play kit from thehidfactory.com....only $80 n free overnight shipping
