I didn't sand an inch.

Wipe off intake with isopropyl alcohol
3 Coats of Duplicolor adhesion promoter
3 Coats of Duplicolor base (color) coat
3 Coats of Duplicolor Engine Enamel 500 Degree clear coat

If you can find a base color you want in Duplicolor Engine Enamel (500 degree) it'd be the safer route.. But the intake is a dry intake, so any paint should hold up. If you want pewter-metallic, I could guarantee that Duplicolor has one at your local parts store. If anything, unscrew your gas cap or something and see which one matches the paint can the most.

Hope this helps a bit, PM me if you need anything
Yea man, do it yourself, just take your time prepping it, painting is the easy part. The more time you spending prepping it and doing it correctly, the better it will come out.

This is my work of art ls6 intake, this isn't do it your self but dragonz28 (Emblempros) can hook you up like they did mine, it IS a paint process per say...

I have not installed it yet cause I had to cut my block for the ls6 valley cover upgrade, but by the end of the week I hope to have it running.

Smoothing takes some time. For the FAST, I usually start with a 80 grit to remove rough texture, then follow behind with 180 to remove the fuzz from the 80. Follow that with a plastic primer, let dry overnight and then hit it with 320 before spraying.

Some of these look amazing...

I like how some of the intakes have the "FAST" painted a different color. What type of paint pen is ideal for that? What have you guys been using?

I'll definitely do this to my FAST 92/92 when it gets here.
