i have a rotary, but im afraid of sanding, and then not being able to get it out, i have read all the stickies on this and im still confused, can you just post what pad you used with each compound? or did you just use the m105, i have seen other people on here use it, and it came out just as good as yours?
OP - since it was your first time, can you give me some tips, i REALLY REALLY want to do this but dont wanna **** up, cause that would be an expensive **** up... why do you have to tape off sections? i know to do a lilttle at a time but why do you SUPPOSE to tape it off? any tips would be great, i plan on peeling my side molding off and REALLY REALLY REALLY wanna wet sand my car this summer... my paint is 10 times worse than yuors was...

Ehh, I pulled the tint off my windows a couple years ago. I kind of like the bare windows. If I do tint again it will be very light.
Put in about 12 hours today, got the whole car buffed out with the M105 using a Yellow pad and a Dewalt rotary, then I followed it up with Pennacle XMT 3 (intermediate swirl remover) and then 1 (ultra fine swirl remover) on orange and white pads respectively using a PC. After the polishing work was done I sealed it up with 2 coats of Z2 using the ZFX accelerator.
There are some really good how-to videos on youtube that discuss wet sanding. Another good resource would be to go to a body supply store. They can hook you up with all the supplies you will need, papers, foam backing pads, polishes, and probably even some good advice. This is how I figured out what techniques and polishes I wanted to use. There are alot of different ways to do stuff, and you just have to pick which one appeals to you the most. I taped off any edges I was sanding and polishing against. With a PC this isn't as crucial, but it does not take much at all to bust an edge with a rotary. I also masked off some of the porous plastic because it is difficult to remove polish over spray.
