Default Shaving Moldings

I'm working on shaving the moldings off of my 98 Trans Am.

I got the small molding off the front of the car fine -- along with the glue .. Then I moved to the small back molding behind the door -- I got it off and got the glue off but there is a hard line around the edges of where the molding was. I can't seem to get it off and I've tried using bug and tar remover along with hard rubbing with a rag. HELP !

Has the door ever been repainted? Body shops are notorious to paint around trim, in lieu of removing it.
