center console

So long story short my impala doesn't have a center console, and I want to get creative and make my own, I am thinking out of mdf, and wrapping in leather. does anyone have pics of a custom center console..... (not too drastic that you would see in a ricer) i want functional yet unique. so post pics so i can get ideas! and/or build threads

what do u mean by custom center consoles? like cupholder/ashtray deletes? consoles wrapped in materials?...meth injection controller in the TCS module spot..**** like that?

no, like built from scratch. my impala doesn't have one at all, so i have to build the whole thing. just looking for design idea's.

Get some foam and start cutting away to create a design then use that as a plug for a fiberglass mold

the only pics i have are from our shop and took tons of time to fabricate. Most of them are fiberglass and some are metal. All of ours are fabricated on bare metal cars, so thats a little different than doing something like this in a complete car.

We usually set up a very very rough cardboard walls around the area of the console. Then fill the area with expanding foam. Carve the foam to the shape you want and cover with bondo. Apply mold release and glass overtop. The shell will pop right off and allow you to remove all of the crap underneath. Bodywork and modify your fiberglass shell to your needs. Then paint or wrap.
