Default Getting the car buffed today...

Just wondering if after the car is buffed (having it done by a friend this time-I have no time) and looking shiny. Can I simply maintain it by washing by hand (micro fibre chamois etc), and then waxing every second time (too often?) and simply drying it with the same microfibre style chamois? Sorry for the beginner question, but I am new to detailing in general and really have no idea how to properly clean and maintain my cars finish. I would have tackled the buffing myself, but this time my car is black, and I'm not that brave. Apparently he's doing a "cut and polish" or something like that? Anyway, thanks guys for any tips or suggestions. I have tried the search but I am not familiar with some of the lingo when it comes to paint and detailing. There is some good info and pics on here though.

The scratches probably won't come back as long as you properly wash your car. If that's what you're asking

No not really but thank you sir. I just want to keep the car looking how it does (as far as shine) when I get it back. I wasn't sure if drying the car removes a lot of wax? I also wasn't sure how often I should wax it in the first place (it's a daily driver).

When I drive mine in the summer..everytime I wash it I wax it. I wash it at least 1 time a week then. My car never gets dirty enough were I need to scrub it but if so use LIGHT pressure with a Micro Fiber Rag. Then I use the an Absorber Brand Chamois ( you can get it at Walmart/ Orileys/ Ect) They come in a plasitc case and they are rubbery kinda. Best thing Iv found for black and they soak up a lot of water. Also use light pressure. One thing I have found that a Micro Fiber rag does scratch a black or darker colored car, So the swen edges, I cut off with sissors. This helps A LOT with black. I have 3 different Chamois also, One for the wheels, one for the out side paint and one for under hood/door jams.. Doing things like this will help from scratching it. After its dry I use a Body Shop Glaze, just a cleaner, its non abrasive so nothing to scratch it, then I wax it with whatever wax. I like Meguiars Gold Wax. Thats the only thing I use and have had awsome luck with it. When removing the wax (if I do it by hand) I get some spray detailer (ICE brand) and just mist the panel Im doing and it keeps it from streaking. Thats about how I do it..From one Black Hawk Owner to another..hope this helps!!

anytime you wipe your car down with a rag, whether it be micro fiber, chamois or what ever your going to scratch it...best bet is to get a cheap leaf blower, I have a craftsman 250mph and works well. there really is no way around it, unless you never drive your car.

You are gonna buff out the car in stages. If the paints not bad and dull use a lighter compound. The car should be VERY clean befor you start or you can and will grind in scratches.. After the compond clean up with a pressure washer. Then glaze to remove the swirl marks.Pressure wash again (no soap just remove the glaze in the cracks and such. Hand wax next.If you want wash 1 more time and dry it up.that spray does work great too...Lastly drink a beer
