The pics that I have are at the end of the season in 2008. But the paint shape is exactly the same as the end of 2009 season.

Some pics I have in the sun you can see the swirls.. I did all the polishing by hand too

how much are the PC kits going for these days?

to the OP its an orbital buffer, very hard to damage paint with it. use the perscribed products and pads on a small section till you figure out what amount of time you need to spend on each spot applying the correct amount of pressure

I dropped my car off to get detailed once and they said it would be like glass without swirl marks. Picked the car up after work at night. Didn't look to bad. The next day in the sun was a different story. Scratcheds everwhere. Come to find out they used rubbing compound on the entire car and hand waxed it afterwards. Spots that didn't have to many scratches when I dropped it off had them now.

The guy that day didn't know how to use a buffer. Needless to say I'm buying my own $hit and doing it myself in my one stall garage. Do one side, pull car out, rotate 180* and do the other side. It's a really Small garage.

Good luck and take your time at it.

Like one member stated, no matter how meticulous you are about washing and waxing your car it will no doubt put micro-scratches in the paint. Even professional detailing products usually only hides or cover up the fine scratches with polishing.

To ultimately properly wash and wax a car which the majority of us can't do is to do it indoors in a clean dust free environment using high quality soap and washing products. Delicately wash and rinse often. Try not to ever reuse the same mit or cloth each time you wash it. Have two separate a wash buckets and washing cloth one just for the horizontal part of the car and one for vertical side. The same goes for waxing. I think there's a sticky thread here on the subject.

The only true thing that will reduce the amount of scratch damage to your paint is to not drive it. (yeah right) Store it covered and indoors. Use a car duster for light dust between washes and Do NOT wash and wax your car so frequently.

This is why I pick my car up in the daytime/sunlight and refuse to take it until its the way I want it and what I paid for.
