well, pretty much, if I am parked behind a car/truck, with my halo's on, I can't see them in the reflection. and even when it is dark at night, I have to look to see if they are on. I have them hooked up to my drl's. would a straight battery connection remedy this(with a switch of course)?

I have the cheap ebay ones (which fit like crap by the way) on my 00 camaro SS and I too have the same issue. Mine are about the same brightness as my stockers. I thought it would be a bit more bright.

Looks like I may have to upgrade to HID. And I suggest the same to you mr. OP

LED-lit halo rings are not going to be very bright. I have a set of projectors with LED halo rings and they are only really noticeable when it is dark out. During the day you can't see them at all.

Maybe if you can find brighter LEDs but it won't be that much brighter for the trouble it would be.

I'm going to experiment with my driver side headlight. I damaged it, so I need to replace it. When I do, I'll take it apart and fiddle around with it, thought about maybe seeing how hard it would be to put a CCFL halo inside for example, that would be much brighter.

Try this for a read... (write up is on the last page)
https://ls1tech.com/forums/appearanc...eadlights.html

Changing to a higher mcd rating could make a difference, but ultimately (from what I've read) the intensity of an led is proportional to the current being supplied to it. Worth a shot...

Can you post the headlights that you bought? But yea you can really mess with halos. Whatever they are is what you got to deal with.... If a halo doesn't work then its done. Plain & simple..

Regular halos suck.... Sorry to say but they aren't bright at all. Pretty much a waste of money if you are wanting bright halos. What you need to get are CCFL halo headlights. There like night & day compared to regular halos by far! I got them on my Camaro & love them. They also come with led on the side. I bought them when they first came out couple years ago. Very bright & reliable. The ones I bought came with 6k HID also. Only thing is if you like that blue look from regular halos then CCFL aren't for you. They are more of a bright white with a tint of blue. But the LED are blue...

This is the same headlight style I got minus the HID kit & I didn't need the side markers

Or if you like this new style? Kind of reminds me of Audi headlights.

But I get looks everywhere I go... IMO Camaros should of had these stock... Haha. But I have gotten a lot of **** for "oh that's ricer" etc. But I think they look bad ***! & don't care. & yes the body kit is off of my car now If you don't like the LED you can just leave them unplugged.

See I had a set of those... they were OK and the halos were great (don't personally care for the side LEDs myself) but the beam pattern was too narrow for me, with the H3 bulb and all. Sold them to a guy on here who seems to be happy with them and that's great. The Sonars, while having dim halos, have a wider beam pattern and I like that better....

But that's why I want to see what those new "R8" lights are like. They have CCFL halos, but they may look kinda goofy with those LED strips. Once I see them on a car - and see how the output and cutoff is - I'll make up my mind what to do then.

Okay, so if I was to take the halos off of the headlights and put on ccfl rings on, would that work? found the rings on ebay.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/98-02...ht_6731wt_1009 those are the ones I have on my car right now.

maybe. I don't know if it is possible or if it would work well or how to mount them or anything. That's why I want to attempt it with my already busted light that I'm replacing anyway - so I don't accidentally screw up a good set of headlights and have to buy new ones.
