I have some already, but they won't blink when blinked.

My rear LEDs needed splicing into the factory harness and first time I tried using them to check if they worked, they wouldn't blink. They ended up blowing the fuse. I replaced the fuse and they have been fine since.

That is because the factory flasher is a thermal flasher. Problem is, LEDs don't pull enough power to heat it up to make it flash.

So you either need load resistors to simulate standard bulbs, or replace the flasher with an electronic one.

I'm tempted to replace my flasher not because I have LEDs (yet) but because I don't like how slow they blink heck mine blink slower than any other fbody I've seen.

Yes.
Remember they connect in parallel to the LEDs not in series.

Yeah, before I transitioned to LED lighting I got an electronic flasher for that sole purpose. It was painfully slow and the blinking noise was very loud. Definitely fixed the problem and is much faster and the noise is much quieter.

Parallel:

Series:

Imagine one light bulb as the LED bulb, the other as the resistor.

If you hook it up in series, the LED has to share the voltage with the resistor. The resistor will take the majority of the voltage, so therefore it won't really light up. In parallel, they both get the full voltage. So the LED gets 12V to operate with, the resistor also gets 12V and can increase load on the circuit to simulate the standard bulb.

Just swap out the thermal flasher, that's what I did to run mine and it works just fine.

(Ha it would take about 8 seconds for my old thermal flasher to make my signals blink once)

You will need a E L 11 flasher

I would do this over putting in the resistors - would cost near the same, and not have near the time and frustration involved.

Yes, the EL11 replaces the stock flasher under the wheel. Actually, there are two under there - one for the turn signals, one for the hazards. Not sure if the hazards one is thermal or not.

You can get the EL11 at places like Autozone, Advance Auto, etc.... about 12 bucks.

Yes you should. Just be sure to swap the right blinker (not sure which one is which). Or just to be sure swap both.

the factory repacement flasher is an EL12. Whats the difference between the EL11 and EL12? Is the 12 just louder? All I can find is EL12 in the stores locally.
