dash changeover 96 to 2000 ebony need a little help Hey guys, I've got my new dash ready to go for the camaro to complete my ebony conversion, have two questions for people that have done this already.

The first part is a connector that's $3. I have the wiring harness from the 2000 dash, is that just the connector that the gauge cluster plugs into? If so, i can just reuse and not wait for a dealer order.
Also - I know everyone says use 97 only cluster. I happen to have a 99 cluster (confirmed with part #s) is there a reason this will not work? I never could find why only the 97 cluster would work. Asking since these are way too hard to find (at least right now) for a reasonable price.
