Default VHT Nite Shades

Anyone have experience with this stuff? I'm thinking of using it to black out my side markers and if it looks good, my tail lights. I think this would solve the "dimple" problem people are having with the blackouts. It's a spray on tinting film that you apply a few coats of and it makes the lense black, but still allows light to come through. I know McTullis used it on his side markers... does anyone know if it lets enough light through to use on the tail lights or if it would look like crap???

I've never heard of such things. I thought McTullis had clear corners? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" /> . Is it like a film you apply? or some sort of paintlike thing? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />

it's kinda like spray paint... but it leaves the lense able to pass light through it. Makes it black, but light shines through.

I used it on my 1981 Camaro Z28 it was really cool! The factory shape of the lights is not changed by a big ugly cover (sorry just MHO). Plus you can choose how light/dark you want to go. You can also do all the side marker lights and turn signals. My Z28 was black so it looked great, subtle but cool. It is VERY runny so use VERY light coats and build them up. It did dry a little on the dull side but after letting it cure for a good long time I was able to polish them up really nice. I will admit after 5 years of baking sun I swear it did fade but could have been my imagination.

I really liked it. Could do some really neat things with it. Unfortunately I do not have any digital prints.

I sprayed my sidemarker lenses on my black WS6 and it totally cleaned up the car's looks. Now, the car looks totally black until the sun shines directly on the lenses. Then, and only then, you can see the red or amber lense underneath. The lights under the lenses show up quite well still at night. I see no problems at all with this paint. I have no pictures but it looks awesome on a black car.

I put a couple of coats on and then I clear-coated the lenses and then sanded them perfectly smooth. Then, I polished them with rubbing compound and they turned out as smooth as the car's paint. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Just make several light coats, i wouls wetsand and polish off the raised part # stampings on them first, lokks sweeeeet.

Here is mine with the turn signals/rear markers, and non visible tailights painted with the vht paint, and headlight covers.

Pic quality leaves a little to be desired

you could just polish the stuff off, just don't put too many coats on, that, or buy a set of extra ones to paint, or a set already painted,

I've thought about taking a newer set of headlights apart and VHTing the INSIDE of the lenses, like an RC car body, and swapping the units when I please. I think it would look sweet!
