To each his own. I like it on my car. People did it way before I did. Here's a shot that shows the painted markers at their finest:

Hmmm.... I like them on Zex's car... But I think that clear corners would have looked better with the silver car.

^^that picture was taken so far away you cant even see the SS emblem, so its only right that you cant really see the side markers either. so that doesnt really give a good idea of how it looks to the average person standing 5-10 feet from the car.

things should look at their finest even at a close look, not only from 20 feet away

The whole point of coloring the side markers with body color is to make them invisible close or far while still maintaining semi-legality, and at far range they are definitely invisible compared to stock markers (which are clearly visible on the Camaro in the first pic I posted).

Like this? I'd say it's pretty fine for $10 and 1 hour of labor. In my opinion it's better than stock. You know how opinions are though... They're like *** holes - everyone has one.

dont get me wrong, they dont look horrible, just out of place when seen upclose. i did that years ago with my camaros side markers, painted them black to blend with the car. it was okay for a couple weeks, then they started to just look like random rectangles. so i got rid of them and went to the "euro" style markers, which are the black housing with the clear lens. i kept those for a while, they looked much better than the painted ones. eventually went back to stock though.

I think if i had a car with a color like you guys (silver, pewter,), i would take the idea you've gone with, and instead, apply it to the housing of the lights, like the aftermarket ones. it shouldn't be too hard to pull the lens from the backing (not positive though), and then paint the inside of the housing to match the body color, and then put the clear lens back on. i think that'd look cleaner, blend fairly well, and still look like lights and not random rectangles.

just a thought though...

No! They just look like you have horrible over spray on the car. I get where you were headed, and what made you do it, but not ALL ideas work out. IMO if you dont want them there, then delete them. This looks like a honda trend gone wrong!

I personally don't like those lights on our cars at all, they just stick out of no where and backing them out doesn't help anything, in fact, unless you have a black car, it adds more contrast! I think everyone should just delete them!

I'm not spending $300-$400 in body shop costs just to hide my side markers, but when people feel the need to do that it typically looks nice, until it cracks and falls out if the person doing it uses Bondo and not 3M flexible plastic filler. Again I respect your opinion, but maybe contrast wasn't the word you were looking for? I honestly think that side markers that stick out like sore thumbs have become so ingrained into F-body owners psyches that anything other than blacked corners, eBay **** that leaks, or stock, looks bad to them.
Here's some contrast, if you were looking for it:

you can literally shave off all the square marker lights in an afternoon, with about $75 worth of material including the mixing gun for 3m plastic repair.

You're not counting the cost to have a body shop prime, base coat, blend the paint, and reclear on all four corners w/proper wetsanding, are you?
