LT1 to LS1 dash

I have a 96 camaro and am converting to a 2002 dash, 97 cluster. Do I need a 97 dash wiring harness or will the 96 work? Also is Im going to an LS motor why cant I just get a 98+ harness and **** can the LT1 stuff entirely? Thanks

I would take it if I could confirm it will work in my car. Nobody seems to have done this. They just use a 97 LT1 gauge cluster and rewire the factory harness. Do you know if this is possible with the LS1 harness?
