Default Beat the hump out of the passenger side near seat... Yes or No?

Sorry if this is in the wrong section... I did not know what section to put it in.

My car does not have cats and I was wondering if it was a good idea? Has anyone done it? What problems would this cause if I did it? Just looking to enhance the f-body interior!

Great post! I've always wondered about that. GM did a poor job with the placement of the passenger side cat. No way they should've made the floorboard like that.

Anyone ever done this?

I've actually considered that as well, but no one ever rides in the car except me really, so never got around to it.

I actually took a hammer to it to see how tough it would be. Pretty tough! I think it may have to be cut out and then a plate welded in. Which really isnt that big a deal. I eventually plan to do this.

do you think a sledge would do the trick? The floorboard would probably be a lot more smooth if we cut and welded instead of beating though

Has anyone ever done this? Any suggestions?

The hump is from the OLD v6 cars placement of the cat.. the new V6 cars dont even have one there but GM didnt want to spend the $$ to re-design the floor

Beating it out with a sledge will also require new carpet (since the factory stuff is molded for the hump) -- It will also look like total *** from the bottom side.. Maybe if a GOOD body guy did it then it would look pretty smooth on the bottom but the paint would most likely crack..

If you dont care what the underside of your car looks like then it should be a relativly straighforward mod.. if you do care then its going to be a bit more expensive (cut, weld & paint)..

Would be nice to have it gone though

No way I'm taking a sledge to my car. I'd try a hand held BFH, but that's about it. I'd rather pay to have it done.
