Either the lens was right by the coils or your oven thermostat is shot. When I had mine in the oven at 200 degrees they weren't even close to being hot enough to melt. Good luck with finding some new lenses.

i just moved into an apartment, pizza said to cook on 325 for bout 18 mins, smelled something burning at about 5 mins, its all in the oven i think...
