What pad did you use? I think that's something we kind of need in a sticky. Is a "If it's pretty bad, use this pad with this product" kind of thing so that guys with no experience can have a decent idea of what to do.

Yours looks really good though man nice job!

Can't really see anything, especially with the car being white. See if you can take a shot with a halogen lamp directly over the paint.

There's so many different brands of pads and different compounds and polishes (even within the same brand, IE: Meguiar's 10,000 product lines) that it's not terribly practical to have a fixed recommendation each time, especially when you consider the special situations or specific corrections you'll be making.

Generally, common sense prevails: if you need a LOT of cut, get a good cutting pad (usually yellow) and pair it with a good compound, preferably one that diminishes if you're inexperienced. If you need less cut, adjust the pad and compound/polish as necessary. Do an IPA wipe and see what you've got and if you don't like the results, do-over with a different combination to suit.

Agreed, or even Direct Sunlight shots are prefered to see if the Swirls are indeed gone.

What Polish and Wax did you use?

I will suggest since you like to use Meguiar's stuff. Check this link. I did this car by hand. NO swirls in it and I did not introduce any but for the steps AFTER correcting the paint will do wonders.

Meguiar's #7 Show Car Glaze, Topped with NXT 2.0 Tech Wax, then followed by #26 Hi-tech Yellow Wax (carnuba based)

Confirmed by Michael Stoops himself via PM.....

Hi Aaron

You're doing things 100% right. M07 first, then your wax. Since you like using a synthetic and a carnauba product, the synth should go down before the carnauba. So, your process of M07, NXT and M26 is spot on.

Yes, you do want a beautifully prepped surface before using the M07 in order to get the most out of it, but it definitely needs to go down before the NXT and/or M26.

The individual who stated that sealants must always be applied only to a perfectly clean surface is missing one very important point - all Meguiar's products are designed to be cross compatible with all other Meguiar's products. We can't say the same for all other synthetic sealants, so it may very well be that some won't bond properly when applied over a pure polish. But as long as you're using Meguiar's products, just keep doing what you're doing.

And your car looks just fantastic! That ought to be proof enough!

Mike

This is a great LSP list. Folks think that because Meguiar's is ubiquitous that their stuff isn't as great as the more boutique products, but I can testify to the results, even with just one of the products as an LSP alone. Nobody has to spend the big bucks to get a great finish.

I'm a huge, huge fan of #26.
