i'm buying a billet grille for my white SS and hear some guys say that painting the area behind it black will look better,
anybody done it before, plz post pics,
do i have to do it in a bodyshop or is there a cheaper way to do it, how?
and, where can i buy an SS decal for the grille from, which one 67,68, or 69,

I put a black billet grille on my Pewter car in Dec 2000. Go with a 67 emblem. It will fit the contour of the grille better. I had to bend my 69 emblem alot to get it to fit. Mine came from firewheelclassics.com I'm sure other resto suppliers carry them like year one.
I roughed up the area with a scotch brite pad. Then cleaned the area with alcohol. Masked with some blue tape from Home Depot that has 2' of drop plastic already attached. Then painted the area with SEMS paint for bumpers.

Definately paint the area behind it. It looks
kinda naked if you leave it white, IMHO.

Just make sure you don't have any wax on the area you paint, and primer it well. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
