and here:

http://members.***.net/pitre/s2000sw.htm

Get the part at Honda or here:

http://www.handa-accessories.com/s2000int.html

I actually like the mod.. if people could get over the fact its from a Honda then maybe they would appreciate how this reminisent of the past muscle and sports cars <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Not like I use my lighter area anyways <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

I was one of the first people over at LS1.COM to install the button after it was originally proposed by another member.

This is one of those "You either get it or you don't" mods. Some people think its stupid, because it really doesnt really serve any purpose other than an alternate way of starting your car.

The most common concerns that people have are:

1. I wouldnt want this in my car because it makes your car easier to steal. This is false. When installing the button, you are tapping into the stock ignition wire, which is activated by a key. You cannot start the car without the key, this making the car no easier to steal than it was before. As a matter of fact, it might possibly make your car harder to steal, since the car can no longer be started using the steering column, and could potentially confuse thieves because of the extra wires down there.

2. If you still need to use the key, whats the point? Once again, this mod isn't designed to make the car any easier or more difficult to start. It is purely a "neat" mod to have. I have had the button in my car for about 4 months now, and have had many compliments on it. Alot of people think that is very cool. I actually bought a 95 Civic from a Honda dealership for my winter car, and when I showed the sales man my button he thought it was the coolest thing, and had to show it to like everyone working at the dealer. Plus, there is something inherently cool about pushing a button and feeling your car roar to life.

3. This sounds like a rice mod, why put an import part in an F-body? The idea of a pushbutton starter is most certainly not a "rice" thing to do. The McLaren F1, most Ferrari's the Porsche Boxster, the Dodge Viper, and pretty much all racing cars use some sort of button or switch starter. The fact that the part comes from a Honda is merely because the switch is relatively inexpensive compared to other pushbutton starters, it looks nice, and is easy to install. If you can't get over that, then, fine, but that's your loss.

4. Can I still use the regular key switch to start my car? Yes. If you follow the walkthrough that was made for this mod, it disables the steering column ingnition. If you want both to be active, instead of cutting the yellow wire, you merely tap into it.

I think that covers them all. I think the switch is a very neat thing to have, and do not regret ever doing it. For pictures of my button, see my website in my sig.

I have a remote starter so I would have to tap the yellow wire for it still to work?

Just don't cut it. It won't change anything about how your remote starter works.

Damn it... EVERY TIME I think I can take a break with the car, someone else does something like this...

Nice mod. I just ordered the parts, and it should be installed by next weekend.

i now realize (what a dumbass question) what i wrote earlier today. yea why would i want to have the button work without the key. that would make the car really easy to steal. everyone just overlook that post that i made earlier.

I think it would be awesome to have the button start! I know next to nothing about working w/ automoive wiring, but I may have to give this one a go! Any advice you guys would have for someone who's never worked w/ wiring before?

I like this mod more for the possible theft prevention then the "cool" factor. You could hide the button in the ashtray, console, etc..
