Default Switch Panel?

I drew this up in SolidWorks, what do you guys think? I am going to put it where the cig lighter and cubby hole thing are on the center console, for a 97+ console. The hole in the middle will have my fan switch in it, and the holes on the outer corners will have small allen head bolts in them. I am thinking about making a red backlight inside of it that will shine through the pontiac symbol. Have it turn on when the headlights are on, I think it would match all the other red lights on the dash.

That looks good, but a lil too plain IMO. I always liked Flamin' Bird's Interior.

I do agree, it is fairly plain. The original idea was to have 4 switches with all of them labeled, and the symbol on the side. But since I only have a fan switch, i made it plain.

You need to need more switches is the only problem, silly. Nitrous, Line Lock, and maybe a cutout would brighten up the looks! It might might help you roast some LS1s too! Get ta gettin'!
Seriously though, for what it is, I think it is pretty damned well done. I like the take on the Pontiac arrowhead.

I will get one for a line lock eventually. I've had nitrous, probably going to go with boost next time around so those switches are gone. Don't really need a cutout, car is loud enough with the exhaust on it. So now I need more ideas for switches! Thanks for the good words, I appreciate it.

hmm if you want more switches, you can have two for controlling the fan speed and another if you add courtesy for the interior.

More switches the better ;P

I agree, it is a little too plain. I was going to have "FAN" cut out under the switch hole, but I drew it up and moved it into place and part of my "A" got erased. I said screw it after that happened. I think it may look a little bit better once I get a switch in it. I am going to cut it out on one of the Mazak lasers at my dads sheet metal shop.

What part of Texas are you in?

I'm taking Fluid Mechanics, Machining Principles, Engineering Cost Analysis, and a Logistics class for my advanced elective. I took thermo last semester, pretty interesting class. Any ideas about what you want to do when you graduate?

sweet man. yea this is only my second week of the semester but thermo seems pretty cool. i really like cad and 3D modeling design stuff so my dream job would have to be automotive design but at this point with the economy and everything i would take pretty much anything right out of school. how about you? are you done after this year?

CAD is one of my favorites too. I really have no idea what I want to do, I may try to go into the sheet metal industry or into the oil industry. I will finish up May 2012, I will have room for some electives next year so I may get a business minor with it too.
