Engine Detailing ? What do you all use for cleaning under the hood? I know the usual dress-up stuff that works on different parts but I'm talking about the parts you can't reach. Like the painted stuff under the headlights that you can't get to very well with you hands.
I guess I'm interested in finding out about something that you can spray on and hose off to flush the dirt from areas I can't get to without causing harm to vital parts.

Re: Engine Detailing ? I have had good luck with a slightly diluted mix of Simple Green.
But if it really bad, it is not that hard to remove the head light and you have all the room in the world to clean down there.
Another "trick" to get hard to reach areas looking good is to spray them down with tire dressing, like the aerosol foamy stuff. Works great, BUT it attracts dust, and can look pretty bad after a while. It does make the engine look great but the after effects can be annoying.

Re: Engine Detailing ? The engine isn't dirty by any means. It's been kept wiped down from day one, but I just wanted to get to all the places that I couldn't reach and was wondering what a good/safe cleaning agent would be.

Re: Engine Detailing ? Detailing your engine can be very satisfying or you may wish you never did it, do a search on engine detailing and you'll find a lot of info on it. Re: Engine Detailing ? All of the stuff that I saw while I was out looking today was CD2 but for internals like fuel and oil additive... I went with the Simple Green Foam, and it did a pretty good job. It probably needs another good going over and then I'm gonna start improving the looks under there on a larger scale.
