any auto store

the problem more than less with DIY tint jobs isn't the quality of the tint, it's that most don't know what they're doing and don't know how to follow directions.

eBay has really good precut tint kits. I've used them on 4 different vehicles and each one came out perfect. But like Crimson said, it's more knowing how to do it than the material itself.

well my problem was thinking the local auto parts stores carry cheap quality tint that will break down to UV exposure in a short period of time compared to some high quality material. i was thinking it would be to thin to use heat on it to shrink desired areas. I guess theres one way to find out...
Thanks

i think the color change stuff has something to do with using the wrong cleaning supplies too, the ammonia, (which is in a lot of cleaners) is really bad for tint

At the end of the day, how much are you really going to save by doing it yourself?

Around here a Camaro would run about $150 professionally installed with a lifetime warranty.

i'm with them. its really not too expensive to get it done at a shop, and the lifetime warranty makes it completely worth it.

You can save a decent amount of money doing it yourself. My tint cost me $27 and maybe another $10 in supplies to properly install it. Granted you have to take the time to do it yourself, and you don't get a lifetime warranty; but I'm a big fan of doing my own work.

The "purple'ing" is probably due to using an ammonia based cleaner as the others have said. If/when you do tint, I recommend getting Stoner's Invisible Glass cleaner. It works VERY well on tinted windows.

I bought my SS with the back window done, so i had to do the fronts after...It cost me $60 to have a local shop do it, granted I knew a buddy that worked there but it is a high quality shop with high quality product which is what i wanted...I have some before and after pics if interested
