need help!!!! Hey does anyone know how to paint plastic? like the inside handles on the passenger side of the car, and the plastic peices to the direct left and right of the windshield, would i sand it down and then paint it or what? PLEASE HELP. . NEED THIS DONE SOON
Re: need help!!!! If you can remove the pieces that's best. What you need to do is sand them down with 400 grit sandpaper then prime them with Duplicolor's "Primer/Filler". It comes in a 11 oz spray and you should be able to pick it up at Advanced Auto Parts and Wal-Mart. The difference between this primer and other primers is that it fills...as they say on their website:
"Fast drying and sandable formula. Provides a smooth, rust-resistant base coat that improves adhesion and appearance of the topcoat. It has high build and fast filling characteristics. Easy to feather edge. Ideal for metal, wood and fiberglass metal surfaces"
You will want to sand it in between coats preferably wetsanding it. I had painted my whisper lid Pewter Metallic with just using regular primer first. The color didnt look right at all. Rob aka Savage1 told him to use the primer/filler and sure enough the Pewter's an exact match now to the car and it's so smooth looking!
