Am I doing it wrong? (re routing engine bay wires)

As I'm cleaning the engine bay I'm trying to do what others have done on this forum so well, hide the engine bay wiring.
My biggest question is am I going to have to pull apart the connector below and what size and type of drill bit do I need to get through the wheel well?

Gonna drill right below the hood strut.

Is this wrong? Is there a better way?

Wrong way or just fine?

After some Simple Green and elbow grease it's much better, but not finished.

use a whole saw. it will have to be pretty big to get all the connectors through. not sure what your trird pic is of. all you do is disconnect the harness and run it through the hole you drill and then connect the harness back up underneath the innner fender. 4th pic is just how i have mine

Doesn't much matter what's "right" or not, just do what works. Note that some people even cut the wires to drill a smaller hole. I didn't. Don't forget to hide the hood release cable. Just disconnect it from the latch assembly. I know you'll enjoy the looks as much as I do! Have fun.

get a drill/round bit from homedepot. I think a 2"1/2 is the right size. i cant remember. the whole will be drilled by the pcm area. then route them to go through the left side of the battery. ceram wrap the wires once they are conected and wrap them in electrical tape.once that's all done put the fender wall panel back on.

If you get the proper tool, and have the patience, they make a weatherpack disassembly tool that allows you to release the lock on the wires in the connnectors so you can make the smallest hole possible and just repin the connectors. It is obviously much quicker and easier to drill a larger hole, then just push the connectors through, then use some 1/4" vaccum or air hose, cut a split in it, and use that as a grommet, and silicone it on.

Maybe, but the proper tool, is actually a straw looking tool that goes around the pins in the connector to compress the spring locks that hold them in.
