Anyone ever change the bulbs behind there dash without using an overlay for the gauges? just wondering if it would look cool or not?

Just have to keep in mind the stock overlay will tint it... Camaros have a blue tint and Birds have a red tint (hence yellow stock bulbs making them green and orange respectively).

I wondered this also cause personally I prefer the stock gauges and wondered what that "Cool White" would look like with the LED's behind em.

I have 1 1998 Z and i tried the red led's but things looked kind of pink.....so..... I just replaced my gauge cluster with one from a 1998 TransAm and i am Happy now. I also tried the blue led's in my camaro gauge cluster but it just seemed real bright at night, I found it distracting.

Depends on color and if you use a single bulb or those multiple square patch looking ones. I used the single bulb.

I had gotten mine from superbrightleds.

Do any sponsors sell LEDs now? I see all LEDs are these square style now anyway, I don't see the ones I bought on that website anymore.

Blue LED's. Like people said, You can't see the red lines in the gauges when its dark, but if you're not a moron, its clear where they are so its really not too important. Pardon the crappy camera.

5 of these. They shine through the stock gauges better than the xHP6 bulbs. The xHP6 bulbs would be alright if you're going with white.
