Default AutoOptics conversion kit

Well two days ago I installed the conversion kit for my T/A gotta say it was a simple install. The lights weren't as blue as I wanted them to be and thats really why I got the kit but I have to say what a difference in lighting ..I had to point the the beams down in order not blind other drivers! If any body wants to upgrade the lights over the stock sealed beams this is it.

Hater,

Did the kit end up being a splice job or a quick connect job? What are your opinions on the fit and finish of the kit. Any issues?

Thanks,

Russ

Thanks for the info Hater,

I had been looking into this a little while back but couldn't get any specific info about the kit. Glad to hear that it's a quality product. You'll give us an update later to see how it lasts won't you??

Speed you have two options...1)cut off the oem connector and just put female spades on the end and thats it...2)make little jumpers with male and female spade connectors on each end if you don't want to cut original parts that's the route I took I have to say the kit is good quality work the finish is just like the oem..at first my g/f was skeptical but even she notices the difference!!

Which parts did you get?
I take it you got the Phillips Kit #H7 for $450?
Does that come with everything you need?

Is this what you got then

#4703C - AutoOptiks #4703 Conv. Kit (Pair), Uses H-7 Bulbs $50.00

I take it then you just need to buy a pair of bulbs from them or your local store? It would be really nice to have something different then the stupid stock sealed beams.

Oh, are these plastic light casings too?

how about posting some pics ?

Yep 4703C is the kit,H7 are the bulbs But I haven't been able to find a parts store that has the H7 in blue so I just got them from autoptiks ,as for the finish of the casing its just like the oem I was expecting cheap *** plastic!(kinda looks like glass inside)I'm working on getting a camera to post some pics.have to say everything fit nicely in the h/light housing no issues with clearance

Thanks for the info you think the sylvania's are better(more blue) than the Phillips bluevision? The total cost was $103 for the conversion kit and bulbs.. I just got the low beams...I wanted to try them out first to see if there was a difference I can't imagine how bright the high beams would be with this kit

Hater,

I just picked up some bulbs for my expedition from Wal-mart. Sylvania cool blues. I was really wanting to get the Sylvania silverstar (I think) they have an incredible light output. Much warmer than any of the other bulbs. Unfortunately I can't find them anywhere. Back to the point. My local Walmart has blue H7 bulbs so you might check there. BTW, did you do both low and high beams, and what was the total cost for your kit, shipped?

Thanks,
Russ

Mustang5Ohater, I have a question about how you did your install. I myself have a 98 Formula. What did you need to make up the splice between the new connector and the old? I'm not very advanced at wiring so I'd like to go this route if I choose to get this conversion kit. Also how do you go about changing the headlights, I haven't had a chance to take a look at them and haven't had one burn out on me yet. Any details would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

It was simple I didn't want to cut the oem connector so I just made 4 jumpers with male and female connectors on each end...the male connector you're going to have to trim (make skinnier) so that it will fit inside the oem connector. As for the removal of the headlights first take of the black cover (3screws),then remove the plate that holds the bulb to the housing (4screws) and thats it! you might need to aim the lights after the conversion theres a srew directly above the headlight ...clockwise light points up. counterclockwise light points down
