Default Black Chrome Whistler Mod

I was at Pep Boys getting paint to do my headlights and the black chrome caught my eye. I did a quick search on my phone and it doesnt seem like anyone has done it yet so i bought it. I sprayed the whole housing and taped nothing off like the typical mod, since its still chrome reflective it should still reflect plenty of light. ill post the pics of the progress, after the first one is all done compared to the other one.

im wondering how much lighting will be affected buy spraying the whole thing and not taping off. i honestly like the chrome refelctors in the black housing of a typical whistler but thats just me lol. post some pics installed!

I had a thread about this a long time ago,I have seen people do there wheels with it and yeah it does look greenish,I think your lights will be cut down a lot ,the valve covers I saw them do on tv seems like they had to spray a lot of black to get it not green,it ended up looking like black paint and clear coat, the reflective part needs to be there for the best lighting

ya im scraping the idea. they just look dark green and not black. im taking it back and just going to buy black and do it the right way. i wish they had anodized black, maybe that would work better. idk ill find something to do next.

yeah i saw the tv show yesterday on speed channel where they used black chrome paint on some chrome valve covers and the end result didn't look like black chrome more like black with clear coat as BOBS99SS mentioned above. Good thing you tried it first because i was thinking about buying a can and trying it out.

Please hurry and install them because I'm staring at a set of lights right now that I need to do the mod to but not sure if I should go with the classic whistler or the whistler 2.0 haha

You are definately going to want to tape off the reflective portion behind the bulb. Without that your headlights are going to be worthless at night, might be to late though since you've already painted it. I agree it would look pretty good all painted but still function>form in this case.

1-2 coats still looks reflective compared to chrome. i didnt put the clear over it either so i dont know if it will add the reflectiveness. im gonna try again today with 2-3 with the clear and plug the lights back in and check the light out output. i have nightshades on my truck headlights and the light went down a bit but i got better bulbs. ill post some more pics up tonight with clear on them and light output

Actually I think they look great!! Second coat that is. Even with the green hue. It might be a good accent. I say try it and put it on the car.

What brand and color number please
