Default want a grille, "but"

so i live in new jersey and front plates are required and cops in my area are pretty strict already giving me trouble for tint, but idc anymore ill just pay the tickets for the tint looks too good with it lol. i was wondering if i could pull off getting a black 6LE billet grille and putting the license plate behind it without getting any trouble from the police. has anyone done this? if so can i get some pics. thanks.

Maybe a flip up plate that hides underneath when you want? I'm just flat out not putting a front tag on here in VA...but I haven't gotten troubled with it yet. I'm also a safe driver on the street so I don't give the officers a reason to really waste their time.

i dont think flip up is an option because in jersey there are so many ridiculous curbs/driveways/entrances. im def thinking about the black powder coated billet grille and blacked out behind it( is this something i could do my self since it really wont be seen or should i have a professional do it?)

Yeah you can do it yourself. Just sand the area good and prime and paint. Just make sure you tape and hide everything that you think could get any overspray on.

I'd take and look up that thread on how to do the "Berger" panel and follow the steps on painting it. If there was a color to paint it, I'd paint it satin black. Not to flat but not to glossy, just right.

i have a billet grille with my plate behind it. though technically still illegal (because the plate is supposed to be clear of obstruction for viewing) they leave me alone.

Yea...that ain't gonna fly with the pigs in NY, they are underpaid and overworked to meet quotas. They 'll give you a second ticket for being "stupid enough" to get the First ticket.

Just make an L shaped bracket that you can mount to the underside of the bumper that comes out and holds the plate.

Then you can still see the grille (since it is lower) or just off-center mount it...

I think SLP still sells this:
