I got a "spoilercompany" ss wing off ebay, great looking spoiler, the light that came with it has "SLP-somethin" stamped in it so im guessing its a SLP light.
Problem is when i first installed it, whenever the automatic lights turn on the leds will light up dimly like the rear lights and then get brighter when i hit the brakes. BUT if i turned the lights on manualy during the day they wouldnt dimly light up...the ONLY time it did it is when the auto lights came on, and it was like this for about 2 months.
Then i thought well if i disable the auto lights by shorting out the wires on the light sensor in the dash, it will stop dimly lighting up like its a tail light.. right? WRONG!
now its dimly lit ALL the time even when i have no lights turned on...wondering if anyone else has this problem and how to go about fixing it...and as far as wiring goes all i did was splice it into the factory wires that went to the original spoiler

I've got the same one, I know if you didn't have a SS car the LED's in the third light (since you didn't have LEDs before in the normal spoiler) **** up some ****.
Thats the best way I can put it since I know nothing about electrical stuff lol, something about the resistance?
There's a link on shbox about it called "SS spoiler conversion" or something...I showed the diagram to my dad and he said it would be no problem to fix.
I didn't even hook the third brake light up, just left the wires hanging.

i found this but idk what it means lol...
http://shbox.com/1/relay_for_ss_spoiler.jpg
So does that mean i just splice in a relay/resistor to the wires in the spoiler?

That really was easy, the hardest part was finding a radioshack and dealing with them...I asked for a automotive relay and the dude assured me they didnt have any and asked if i tried autozone. Im glad he asked me that, cuz that told me he didnt know **** lol and I went to look for one anyway and sure enough they had em...
Thanks folks now I dont look like I retard like the dudes that have reverse lights come on with brake lights

I just wen to radio shack and found a automotive relay (only saw one kind) and all the numbers matched up to the one in the diagram...and i already had the connectors that you put on the ends of the wire that slide on to the prongs of the relay
Basically u just cut the wire somewhere in the middle, take the ends and crimp the connector on and slide it onto the correct prong on the relay. positive wire goes on the 86 prong and negative wire goes on the 85 prong. and i just put the relay up in the hole in the spoiler like the other guy said...was gunna take a pic when i hooked it up but i forgot..

I don't even see the reason for the relay. Use a resistor of the proper value, cheaper and smaller. Not sure exactly what the resistance value should be but that shouldn't be hard to find out.
I had an aftermarket LED light on my standard spoiler, and it didn't dimly glow or screw up the ABS and/or cruise. Maybe it has a load resistor built into it.
