What options do we have out there? car in sig. My stock leather hurst **** has a tear in it thats worn in over the last year or so, and the dealer wants $200 for one X_X. While I know some websites offer them closer to the 60-70 range, what other options do we have? Does anyone re-cover the stock shiftes? I called a local upholstery shop about it and they wouldn't have anything to do with it =/
When i was looking at aftermarket shift ***** i didnt really find ****... honestly the hurst is prob the safest bet either new or redone. I havent looked in a while though maybe there is something else. I have the leather round ****, want the other one though. Keep your eyes pealed for classifieds too
i think that there are some badass ***** on ebay. sorry sponsors but its true there is one that has the 6 speed pattern and come in like 10 colors and has racing stripes on it or other ones that dont. they have an abundance check it out.

I looked at all the ones on ebay, and only the gray pearl ones appealed to me at all (perfect match to my exterior), But really like the ergonomics of the stock hurst ****. After looking at the huge picture thread of ***** at the bottom of the page, I'm leaning towards a 03-04 cobra **** and threading a stick to match... or if I can get my hands on a GTO **** and avoid all that mess, even better! LOL. ... that or.. anyone wanna sell a stock hurst **** that doesn't have tearing leather? apparently I'm hard on that 2-3 shift *shrug*
I LOVE a T-handle on an auto.. never tried on a manual, but I don't feel like it would work well with the way I shift, a pistol grip would probably suite me better, but then I like to "palm" up to third (probably the reason mine is tearing there now). I think a T would feel awkward for city driving, but then again so will a solid ball instead of the tapered stocker ARGH. Couldn't find any GTO ***** for sale on ls1gto or ebay either =/
I have a Cobra **** I'd sale you. I ended up getting a C6 **** instead. It is far from new though. lol
shoot me some pics, and a price! How far from new are we talkin? I'm plannin on using one of those pearl ***** from ebay for show, so as long as it isn't torn It'll probly work for me, the tear in mine just drives me nuts everytime I shift gears lol
Just like anything else, you get what you pay for. I bought a "cue ball" shift ball off ebay for cheap for my old LT1. After a few hundred miles I thought I heard a rattling/whine from my tranny at high speed and thought, "what the hell is going wrong with this car now?" After a while I figured out it was the metal threads in the shifter rattling against the plastic part of the ball. I tried to fix it but it still rattled. It's some where in a box in my garage.
I like the looks of a classic white shift ****, but I like the pistol grip too. Having multiple cars allows easy change, lol. To me, the pistol grip works better during fast shifting. You have more control.
i have the stock leather hurst **** in mint condition for sale if you are interested. I'm asking $45 shipped. I just like the looks of my hurst classic white H ball better
I guess I could see a pistol grip having more control, I've never tried one out though, kinda looks funny IMO a little out of place. I think the hurst is a perfect **** really, weighted good too

I'm with you on the pistol looking out of place, probably why I never considered it. Paying more attention to the position my hand is on the shifter lately though, I could 100% see how it would be best for quick shifts as thats the position my hand is in everytime I'm trying to shift more quickly.. except for 2-3.. I still revert to "palming up", maybe I wouldn't do that if the re-centering springs weren't so strong hah.
Some of those delrin ***** look ok.
cheap guy,
Those ebay ***** are around $50, not exactly on the cheap side of things as far as ***** go.. who did you buy from? I'll make sure to avoid them lol
