headlight assembly can it be polished?????

what kind of metal is the black headlight assembly under the hood and can it be polished? thanks guys

just a cheap carbon steel I think but may be alum. Anything (metal) can be polished, but the results will vary depending upon the metal.

It's black and you're gonna polish it? Is it PAINTED then or what? I haven't seen any black metal polished before though. Be pretty sweet if you can pull it off. yeah, definately post pics.

Yeah i have polished several painted things. The hardest thing to polish was the check valves. Damn GM used superglue paint on those. <img border="0" alt="[judgement]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_judge.gif" /> But they came out pretty damn good.
