Default Leaky Tops & Sticky Trunk!

Hey. I just had my t-tops worked on because they leak. The car is a 2002 Ram-Air. They put this very large, ugly weather stripping on it that you can see from the outside thru the windows. They said that it was what was originally on it, but no way! Anyway, I'm waiting to see if it leaks still or not! They've had it 3 times now! I just want them fixed before it ruins my carpet! Next thing I have to get fixed is my trunk latch. It is sticking when I hit the interior release button. I usually have to hit it twice before it will open the trunk!

Let us know how you make out with it...I personally would rather hit it twice then worry about the dealers breaking something else while trying to diagnose it, though

Your "trunk" (hatch) is supposed to be that way (having to push the button twice). That is why it says "REAR 2X" in the keyless entry fob. This was designed to keep it from being opened "mistakenly" by bumping the button.

I know, it IS a pain! but, like arcom said do the trunk lid fix and you'll live happily ever after. I know that it makes me happy when I push the button and it opens right up now

It sounds like the situation I had. When opening the hatch it doesn't fully open. This is what I did (its a friend's site):

The difference is that I replaced the stock spring completely instead of supplementing it. The hatch opens fine now, but its more difficult to close (you have to overcome a stronger spring).

My 02 does the same exact things. Although my car is a weekend toy and sits in the garage. But the TTops leak when washing it. The trunk sticks as well. I thought it was the weather stripping sticking to the trunk lid metal. I thought about appling vasaline to see if that helps but havent tried it. As far as the TTops, that is something that I accepted when I bought the car. TTops = Leak. Its the 5th law of Newtonian Mechanics. For every TTop there will be a direct relationship to the number of leaks and years vehicle in service. It is an extension of 2nd Law for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Attempt to stop the leak and more will form.
