Default How Is A 99 F-Body's Rear View Mirror Reinstalled?

As the title states, how do you reinstall the rear view mirror on a 99 F-Body? I can get the mirror on the 2 guides on each side of the metal piece attached to the windshield and I know how to remove it, I just dont know how to get it to stay in position. If I try and slide the mirror off of the guides, it comes off. Shouldn't there be something that makes the mirror locked in its position on the guides? Isn't the mirror supposed to click back on? Do you have to take the clip off, then mate the mirror with the metal deal connected to the windshield, and then finnagle a way to get the clip back so that the mirror stays permanently?

I searched and didn't find anything.

In case you are searching for how to remove the rear view mirror and were directed here, please refer to this website.

Thanks

I think you have to apply a certain amount of pressure. Mine always comes off from the vibrations from my subs and i have to push it into place. Just press down on the guides and you should hear a click.

i think i got it this time. i heard it click once before but then it came right back off. it was a high pitched click like when you connect the plug wire to the coil pack. this time it was a much lower pitched click and i think it will stay on there because i couldnt yank it off.

The clip might be bent like someone else said. I had the same problem, and tried to force it on and shattered the mirror in my hand... not fun.
