Hey bryan, looks like things are working out really well for you and these FRC's. Can't wait to get mine in. If you could email me a progress report, that would be great!

Very nice FRCs, and I may order a set. However, I have heard that FRCs may cause Heat problems on LS1s. I think I remember reading somewhere that GM does not recommend them. Does anyone have any info on this? I know Corvettes have them, but I heard they experienced Heating problems also. I am not sure about any of this, just asking.

Thanks Antonio,

We've had some lousy weather here with humidity
that delays painting, so it will take a bit longer than expected. But hopefully, you see it's worth the wait!!

I've got a question. It seems that the newer F-Bodies need to have them cut more than my 98. All I had to cut was the throttle cable notch and a small notch to fit the dipstick tube by. I never had to cut out all that stuff in the back on each side. Conversely, a friend who's having them done on his (Last Yellow Bird) also had to do some serious cutting on his to get them to fit. From what we could see, there was nothing different wiring harness wise other than it looks like my harness was mounted up closer to the cowl allowing room for the FRC.

Here's a pic of mine that I just had painted. Otherwise these have been on the car for 2.5 years before I did this without nary a problem. Note: The cut on the rear of the driver's side cover is a factory cut, NOT mine!

Have you actually installed them like this after the paint job? I think you're going to see some scratches on there trying to get them on with the extra material in the back. I cut the notches out so that they slip around the air system hose on the driver's side and the large wiring harness that runs from the firewall to the PCM on the passenger's side. This eliminates the "PITA" factor that everyone encounters trying to install them. When doing research on this, the one thing I found that no one wanted to do was trimming. Also, after installation you really don't even see
these notches, they are so far hidden underneath the cowling. So, that's basically why I cut mine the way I do: ease of installation and they don't get scratched up nearly as much.

Like I said, they were on there for 2.5 years prior to my painting them. The only place they rubbed visibly was were the fuel lines that are wrapped in that silver tape rest on them. I will remedy that when I re-install them. Otherwise nothing toward's the back except for maybe (note I say maybe) the PCV line off the back of the driver's side valve cover comes close. And that's at the edge of it. OTherwise, my A.I.R. tubes and that clump of wiring doesn't interfere anywhere. The only problem I have/had installing them was those darn fuel lines which at the time, never occured to me to remove that silver tape. Otherwise, I can have them in and my STB back on in less than 5 minutes.

I haven't heard much feedback from anyone that has ordered a set of the FRCs.Are they ready to bolt up upon receiving them.

I haven't heard any feedback about the over heating issues w/the f-body.

Please elaborate if you have any info on these issues.

Thank you.
