Wow nice build! I'm pretty impressed by your determination and turn around.

It sucks cause my car has been under the knife for months because I'm at school and it sits at my parents house.

What bike do you have? I just got a 95 Ninja 600 with 6k miles on it and I'm taking my safety course next week. Cant wait!

Thanks for all the compliments and enthusiasm, as for an update I went into my little stash of emergency money and just got the little things I needed since this weekends weather is going to be crap. I got the 3 jaw puller, worked like a charm getting both balancers of the old and new engine. Then went over to Ace to get my 10.9 metric bolts. Damn things were $3.30 a piece, but it was well worth it since I finally got the rest of the transmission bolted up. After I finish getting the balancer on I'll get the converter, starter, and belts on, finish putting on the coils.....and finding the 4 other plug wires, radiator, trans cooler, fluids, then try starting it, soooo close

As for another problem that arose, my shifter cable got pretty beat up from when I dropped the engine, I forgot to undo the bracket that holds on the trans and it looks like it got ripped down from the interior, So needless to say I am looking for a shifter cable with the little black plastic piece.......Argh stupid little set backs

As for my bike Temple its a 96 Gsxr 750, first bike, lots of fun to ride, but it has a few problems, needs a new oil feed line, clutch soon and a wiring issue since its starting to overheat, I probably pulled a wire when I went down.

nice build, but correct me if i am wrong arnt you going to be down on HP with the stock Lq4 vs the ls1? I really dont remember the hp differences. you sould install a cam while you are at it that would definetly wake it up.

Well today is the day everyone, I will atempt to revive my bird. I still have a few things to bolt up such as the torque converter(was waiting on the crank bolt), starter, new ground wire spot, wire mod, and putting all new fluids in, a vid will be posted when I get it started, Its going to be really loud (open headers only in a garage)

Here are some pictures from what I completed yesterday

Something looks off to me here, or is that how its suppose to be?

Almost done, radiator and trans cooler(not pictured) back in

And complete, I forgot to repaint the lid, but I put it on for picture purposes

Thats actually how hookers sit.. If you look at the flanges the primaries extend through the flange.. its meant to seat them against the ring on the gasket.. Do NOT overt

No I didnt I was actually worried that could happen so I tightened it without going overboard, as for trying to start it....yesterday now, it didn't happen. I was too tired to even move or lay under the engine without dosing off, so today after I get some sleep in a few minutes I will finish bolting up the converter, starter, a couple more ground wires, the coil wires and battery, sounds like alot but it really isnt. I'm thinking 3 more hours of work with checking everything over should be good enough.

I have pictures of the $200 of fluids and parts that were left to get but I and beat. So till later everyone

I think I have those parts you broke laying in my spare parts room...pm me if you want em'. I know I have a whole shifter assembly and a nice scratch free shifter console and I believe the cable is in there too.

Good job btw man, if I had the space and the tools I would do all my own work. Hopefully one day I can buy a house with a decent garage.

Seeing as I procrastinated and didnt finish the car today I'll just post the pictures of the stuff I did yesterday, I ended up getting different water pump gaskets since the felpro paper ones started leaking once enough coolant was in the system, I spent about $200 on fluids and the gaskets combined, along with 1 new map sensor (not pictured)

Coolant x2 already put in a gallon

Then heres the broken shifter cable that was still attached when I was dropping the engine

Ok so after many curse words and flying pieces I got the starter in and finish bolting evrything, I went to turn the key to finally start, it turned over and nothing was happening, I went over everything and went to turn the key realizing the fuel pump wasnt priming, and went over the grounds, I found a wire without a circle connector and I grounded it, One more time turning the key and VROOM it Roared to life, It wasnt at all what I expected, It was louder. I have to get it tuned because its running at high rpms due to the lower compression.

Videos later

I'll get a video tomorrow, when I started it, it scared the **** outta me and I turned it off, I started it again and it was running a 2,000 rpm, only because I don't have a base turn on it, and the videos sound quality sucks, the car is just too loud it's kinda scary

Well I have too video for you eagerly awaiting people the quality sucks because its from my phone, the first one is the where I **** my pants from how loud it was and turned it off right away, and the second one is when it starts and dies right away, when it dies it make this fluid sound, its from the coolant so don't worry about it and don't hate on me for starting it over and over, I finally got in it and put my foot on the gas in the end......enjoy eventhough there both really short

My smartass girlfriend in the beginning

And the second, remember don't hate for the amount of key turns I did =P
