Coffee filters also work well for preventing streaking, if you don't have newspaper. Most of the more expensive paper towels that are supposed to be so absorbent are actually bad for causing streaks on windows.

Wasn't it said a while back that you could use that Steel Wool and stove top cleaner for hard water spots on the windows?

Yep, took all the water spots off my glass.
