Default Hurst **** issue

So I bought a Classic Hurst shift **** from Jegs. Its just the plain white ball with the gear selection engraved on the top. I really like this ****, it threads onto my WS6store short stick just fine. But the jamb nut that came with it will only thread on about 2-3 threads & it stops. The ball will completely thread on. Has anyone else had this issue?

I also have a Pro5.0 at home I tried it on last night & neither want to thread the stick on that shifter for some reason. So I'm guessing once it goes in I will have to use the WS6store stick with it for this **** to work.

I really dont want to lock-tite the **** on the stick, but it needs that jamb nut so I can position it correctly & the **** be tight.

Also, I'm kinda curious about the difference between the Hurst billet & the regular Hurst shifter for our cars. I know on ebay you can grab a Hurst shifter, chrome stick & ball for around $120-140 but the Hurst "billet" is closer to $200 from sponsors with extra charge for the chrome stick. So is the extra money honestly worth it or is the regular Hurst you can grab cheaper on ebay still better than a stock non-Hurst shifter?

I havent installed my Pro5.0 yet but it seems about a 50/50 split weather people like the feel. The Hurst shifters though are basically all good reviews but I normally only see the Billet gold based version discussed.

Nevermind, got it on there. Took a wrench to it & persuaded it to go on. Once it got past the top threads it was good to go. I'm thinkin the threads on my short stick might have been a little galled up from tryin to keep the MBA **** tight. I liked the look of the MBA but its just too hot in the summer & doesnt stay tight for some reason.

I'm diggin the white Hurst ball though. Just the short drive on lunch felt better than before when I reach to shift. Overall very happy with the swap.

FWIW, I never put the jamb nut on mine. It allows it to sit lower that way (which I like personally), and I just added a dab of loctite and it's been fine ever since

I just didnt want to go that route cause it's coming back out for a Redline shift boot soon & I didnt want to fight it to get it off.

Its good to go now, I'll just use my WS6store stick on the Pro5.0 so I dont have to mess with the other stick issue.

For some reason my WS6 didnt have a factory Hurst in it when I bought it, just a regular old stock shifter. I just put a WS6store short stick on it & the Hurst classic white ball. Soon I'll be installing my Pro 5.0 & if I dont like the feel I'll look to swap it for a Hurst Billet.

Would the white **** look stupid on the stock hurst shifter since it's so tall? I really want one but don't want it to look dumb.

I'll be getting one of the flat chrome Hurst stamped sticks if I swap to the Hurst shifter. I think they look very nice but I dont want to run one without the actual shifter in the car.

I'd imagine. I don't know who likes the stock height shifter anyway, unless you drive an 18 wheeler for a living. I bought a Lou's Short Stick and put the white Hurst shift ball on and was very pleased with the outcome.

I was looking at those too. Is the thread size 16mm x 1.5 and is it the 2.5" diameter ball? I'm trying to decide between black and white. I'm leaning toward the white ball.

That almost looks like the stock Hurst shifter, which is still too tall in my opinion. Here is my Lou's Short Stick + Hurst ball

It's pretty notchy.... drove one before on a rebuilt T5, didn't like it... Will never buy one.. I've never had an issue with my stock Hurst shifter.
