Default cutting coils?

for u people out there who have cut there coils.. how much did u cut off and how low did the car site? i have a prokit in my car.. wana lower it a inch more.. so gona chop some off the front.. but not sure exaclty how much?? im thinkin quarter a coil to half..?? any help would me nice.. thanx

Well, at least cutoff the dead coil. I have heard that 1 coil = 1 inch, but that was on the stock springs. I would cut the dead coil then small bit by small bit with driving and waiting in between to make sure it doesn't settle and get too low. Good luck.

BTW: Why are you cutting them. Does the back sit lower than the front and you want to equall it out?

I'm not sure of the terminology here. But I believe the "dead coi" is the one that looks like a pig tail. Do NOT cut that end.

Dead Coils are the coils that are touching. Some aftermarket springs have two or three coils sitting on top of each other in addition to the other evenly spaced coils. These coils are known as "Dead Coils" because they dont contribute to the spring's operation. Therefore it is ok to cut a Dead Coil.

I can't beleive that you want to lower a Pro-kit another 1" !!!!! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" />

But on my SLP Eibachs, I cut 1/2 a loop and the car dropped up front about 1/2"
