Default Noob claybar question...

Is it safe to use the claybar with just plain water or do I have to get the special lubricant? And should I be buying a name brand claybar like meguiers or would the cheap stuff off ebay work just the same?

Thanks

Detail spray is recommended, but you can also use a spray bottle with water and a few drops of car wash soap. Be careful with the Ebay clay. Make sure it's for automotive paint. Some of the clay bars I have seen are very course and needed alot of buffing to remove the damage. Mothers, Meguiars, Clay Magic are all good products. I personally use Adam's with their detail spray.

the clay needs lubrication to slide on the paint, thats why you use the spray detail. if you have ever had sex in the shower or a pool then you know that water is not the best lubrication!

^ That's what I was thinking, lol. But for the water and eBay clay bar, I wouldn't trust the eBay stuff for anything. I'd just go by a kit from Wal-Mart or an auto store if your crunched for time or hold out and just order the stuff from Adam's.
