Richeig, nighthawk, or alexws6,

Can any of you tell me how you painted your tailights, turn signals, etc? Did you paint the outside? What steps (sanding etc.)?

Thanks,
Russ

But I pulled back the carpet and took off the butterfly nuts holding the tail lights on. they are real easy to get off. once out, I just made several light sprays about 3 minutes apart, Than take yourself back to the good old remote control car days with the paintable lexan bodies. Remember "Testors" brand paint. I got some of there clear coat paint and made a few real fine mist passes to get them glossy. I saved the sanding part by holding the can real far away and spending a little more time.

For my side markers, I took them off, sanded them lightly (on the outside) to give them a rough sufrace, then gave them a few coats of the nite-shades. I used too much, though, and now they are almost completely opaque, so I would use as little as possible to get the look that you want. For the third brake light, I took it off, taped off the front (or back?), and I think I sanded the top like the side markers. I painted it with gloss black, because I don't think that airplanes other things in the sky need to see my brake lights. The side of the light is plenty bright enough, anyway. Both made quite a difference. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />

Thanks for the tips on painting the brake lights fellas. That looks so much cleaner. I'll have to try it on a few practice pieces first, but it's a "must have" mod for black cars.
