Installing shorty antenna, help!
Installing shorty antenna, help! I'm trying to install the shorty antenna in the pic below, but I'm a little stumped on how to separate the part that the antenna screws onto from the black plastic piece. Does it just unscrew from it? I tried pliers but they slipped(need vise grips if it does in fact unscrew) ..anyone else use this antenna? Any help is appreciated.
As you can see the bottom of the antenna mount becomes narrow towards the top, that's where the problem is.
)The simplest job can be so frustrating ..guess I could cut threads off..
Ended up using a couple of the pieces, turned out decent.

They usually come with like a plastic spacer to fill the gap if there is one. I see that in the picture you have what looks like a long plastic spacer. You could cut it to length to have it cover the gap or somethings up with the threads (such as damaged or threads dont match).
