Default tinting the front window

has anyone ever done this? i am going to have it 5% on the back and on the sides and am wanting to do a light tint on the front. i want it so that the interior of the car is not too visible.

anyone have pics? or can give me some pros and cons of doing it? (aside from it being illegal because frankly i dont care )

I did mine in 15%. It's a little on the dark side (I did my daily driver with 35%)

There's a pic on my website:

SMOKINV8 has a point. The tint wont strengthen the windshield "considerably" but it will prevent it from shattering the way its supposed to.

The only con would be driving visibility during the night. The ownerof the tint shop I go to has his front done at 50%. I had back and sides limo tint, then I got busted by a cop. I plan to redo the sides either 20 or 35 % and with the front one step lighter than 35%.

Hmm that is a good point. However i feel naked without a seatbelt so i don't think I will have that problem. The flipside to it is that if something were to hit my windshield, the pieces wouldn't come in to the car.

But thanks for the advice. I think i will do it "light"

would doing this help with glare issue?..not sure about the rest of you but I tend to keep my dash clean and shiny like I do the outside of the car and sometimes I get a reflection of the dash on my window making it nearly impossible to see out of, therefore very dangerous..I was thinking of getting a light tint on there to lessen this issue if it would help

yes it helps with glare alot on my 92" camaro it is 5% back and sides and 35% mirror on the front. Not very cop friendly but awsome. I had very very bright lights and people would always flash there high beams only to have the mirror kick it back! The only down side was hard to see out the back had to roll window down and stick my head out. My friend got mirror 20% and couldn't see under some light b/c the mirror would cast a little bit of a dash image and you can see out at all. But I am going to grt my 01" camaro front tinted 20% black not problems there!!

I heard a while back that tinting the front window strengthens it considerably. Imagine hitting something without your seatbelt on, and smashing into a windshield that won't break.

I have no first hand experience, but it's still something you should look into.

Front window tinted 35%, looks awesome, noone can see in.

Side windows tinted 21%, t-tops 5%, back window 5%.

I have been pulled over with the front windshield tinted but the cop never noticed. Reduces visibility but you get used to it.

I've always wanted to this, I think it would look so awesome on my all black car. Although for safety reasons, it is not worth it in my book.

The glare problem can be solved by Polarized sunglasses. I have them and they work. If your only issue is with the glare, then just get a pair of polarized sunglasses instead of tinting your windshield. Its a lot cheaper and wont get you pulled over.

I have limo all around and 35% on windshield. The 35% is like nothing really as far as seeing out at night.
It does cut down night time glare and cops don't ever notice it. I love it.
Pics in sig. Makes it harder to see in at night and during the day.
I love it...Considered doing 20%, but by my house there aren't many street lights so it would be a bit difficult.
